Evening of Excellence Honors Lynbrook’s Most Outstanding Contributors

The Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual installation and awards dinner at Temple Am Echad, 1 Saperstein Plaza, on Jan. 30.

Honorees for the evening included Shannan Pearsall, Steven Freifeld, Carol Burak and Northwell Health.

Shannan Pearsall is the coordinator of Mended Little Hearts of Long Island, a nonprofit that supports children, families and caregivers affected by congenital heart defects.

Steven Freifeld was honored as the Lynbrook Educator of the Year. He has been a third grade teacher at Marion Street Elementary School for more than four decades.

Carol Burak, a former Chamber of Commerce president, is being honored as the distinguished president emeritus, while Northwell Health was recognized for being a physician partner of the chamber.

Northwell Health, which did the beautiful renovation of the former Long Island Water building on Sunrise Highway and Peninsula Blvd., was honored for their vision and contribution to the community.

In addition to the honorees, the chamber also installed its 2020 slate of officers.
